Exclusivity

Exclusivity - is it for you?

What exclusivity means...

Everything paid for by Mod Collective is exclusive to Mod Collective - unless it was declared non-exclusive and therefore paid as a Remix.  However, non-exclusive Studio Artists ARE free to upload different work elsewhere, and then share that back with us for a Remix payment.  However, earnings are much more lucrative at ModCo if you opt to become a fully exclusive (Premier) Studio Artist
.
Being exclusive means you give your work to us, and only to us.  We pay a lot more for this because it is only through exclusivity that we'll be able to grow to where we want to be.  There's no minimum requirement - the rules are otherwise the same as for Studio Artist - the only difference is you become exclusive to MODCo and will be given chances to earn a lot more and will have first shot at working for other projects if you wish to be involved.

Exclusive Studio Artists will start with a score of 15 added to their MODlvl.  If you're one of our Early Adopters, that means you'll still have a head start, but at -5 instead of -20, with the following month moving you straight to zero starting point (rather than September 2024).   Any MODlvl you've earned in addition will also be added to this.  Our exclusive artists will also be given first pass at special contracts and commissions with commercial partners.

Being exclusive pays extremely well, but it's not for everyone.  Some artists make a tremendous amount from established followings on Patreon.  If you're not sure whether exclusivity is for you, feel free to reach out to Hiraeth on Discord.

Some questions answered...

If I'm exclusive, can I still bring past work from other sites?

Absolutely.  Exclusivity only applies to work made from the date your exclusivity contract with us was signed.  Anything made before that date can continue to be shared with MODCo and other sites.

Do I have to sacrifice my place at TSR and other sites that demand a minimum upload rate?

We understand that achieving a position in a community is a very hard-won accolade and we don't want to take that away from you.  So, under your exclusivity contract, we'll still allow the following:
  1. the minimum uploads it takes to 'retain your position' at other sites, provided it is not your very best work
  2. the exception to exclusivity is recolors, where users must come to ModCo to download the base mesh (this will mean removing the mesh from the recolor file - we can help with that) to create a true dependency.
  3. uploading any content elsewhere that we cannot host currently (e.g. porn stuff)
With these exceptions, we still expect the most and best of your work at MODCo alone.  As a result, exclusivity is not for everyone.

If I'm exclusive, can I change my mind and revert?

Yes, but we would need to revise a contract to define your time paid as an exclusive artist and release you from the exclusive requirement.  Anything created during that time, and ANY creation made for commercial partners, must always remain exclusive to MODCo under the terms of the contract you'll sign.  Your MODlvl will be reduced by the 15 points we gave you for becoming exclusive, and if your score is still above 30 after that, you will be set back to the Studio Artist maximum of 30.

Do I have to remove past content from other sites?

No, exclusivity only applies from the date on which you sign the contract.  Work prior to this date can remain public and shared wherever you want, including with us.
