MODCo Artists

About MODCo artists

Our artists

We have different tiers of artists.  There is no difference in rank, but the level of pay and variety of work depends wholly on the level of involvement you would like to have...

Studio Artists

Studio Artists are top-tier creators hand-picked from the custom content creating community.  When you first join MODCo, this is where you will likely start.

Studio Artists, while committed to providing top quality exclusive work for Mod Collective, might also upload different content at other sites too.  Studio Artists are paid per creation, which will be the basic rate x the artist's current Modlvl (MOD Level) score. Studio Artists can increase their MODlvl score up to 30 (for 30% bonus on pay).

Premier Studio Artists

Premier Studio Artists are similar to Studio Artists (paid per creation), but they have signed a contract with ModCo for 100% exclusivity to Mod Collective. This means ALL work, with the exception of recolors that need the mesh downloading from ModCo, must be uploaded to ModCo. In return, Premier Studio Artists can increase their MODlvl score up to 200 - that's 200% increase on basic payment rates!  An occasional (different) creation can be uploaded to other sites to keep an account open, but outside of that, every creation made must be shared with Mod Collective, and be exclusive, even beyond the exclusivity contract (this is because we paid you specifically for the works to be exclusive).

Staff Artists

Staff Artists are career artists who join our staff team permanently, working full-time (averaging 40 hours per week) as a consultant artist on contract.  Instead of being paid per creation, you will receive a fixed monthly fee starting at $3,000/month, and rising to $4,000/month after 6 months.  There will also be bonuses on top.  As a Staff Artist, you might find yourself working on a commission for a brand partner, researching AI generation, helping us develop and test new tools or being involved in technical research and testing content conversion for new games.  Your career opportunities don't end there; you will be working for us, and there will always be opportunities for progression.

Staff Artists work exclusively for us and only us during 'office time' (everything made during MODCo hours must only be for MODCo).  Outside of hours, staff are welcome to create different content for other sites too.  That content can be shared back with MODCo as remixes, but we expect that most of a Staff Artist's work will be exclusive MODCo content.

Some Staff Artists have staff roles in addition to creating, whereas others simply use their time creating for monthly pay or take part in special commercial partnerships and commissions.

How do I become a Staff Artist?

We will generally offer opportunities where we have vacancies. However, if you're interested, please contact Dan or Hiraeth on Discord so we know that this is your ambition.

What does it take to become exclusive?

Being exclusive means you give your work to us, and only to us - that simple.  We pay a lot more for this because it is only through exclusivity that we'll be able to grow to where we want to be.

However, we understand that achieving a position in a community is a very hard-won accolade and we don't want to take that away from you.  So, under your exclusivity contract, we'll allow the following:
  1. the minimum uploads it takes to 'retain your position' at other sites, provided it is not your very best work
  2. the exception to exclusivity is recolors, where users must come to ModCo to download the base mesh (this will mean removing the mesh from the recolor file - we can help with that) to create a true dependency.

When can I become exclusive, and how?

Any time you like!  Simply contact Hiraeth or Dan on Discord to let us know your preferences.

Do I have to become exclusive?

Not at all - it's your free choice.  You can still increase your pay by 30% even by being a non-exclusive Studio Artist.

What if I submit to other sites but always guarantee MODCo exclusives?

As we are paying 3x more for your exclusivity, we would want you to be fully exclusive only to us in order to be a Premier Studio Artist.  If you make better money from other sites, then remaining as a non-exclusive Studio Artist is probably your better option.
